For some reason, a bunch of bands containing “wolf’ in their name have risen to some prominence lately, most notably Wolfmother…..thanks in part to Guitar Hero and similarities to Black Sabbath. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?

Weird weird weird….but with a nice driving beat and nice finish!
Finally! It’s been 4 years since they released “Some Cities” in 2005, but it seems they haven’t missed a beat. Their new album “Kingdom of Rust” drops in the US on 4/7. Here is the first single (also the title track) and the lead track, “Jetstream”. Both are good, but I prefer the title track at the moment.

Here’s a tune from Velvet Underground’s 1970 radio friendly LP, “Loaded.” A departure from their earlier experimental and abrasive stuff, this album was entitled as such because their label expected them to produce an album “loaded with hits,” which they accomplished, even if it required them to compromise their sound. This was their last album before Lou Reed quit.
This song rolled during the closing credits of the Big Love season finale, which was a great episode due to its content and the fact that it reintroduced me to this wonderful song.

My love affair with this one continues……here she rips on guys who wear skinny jeans…..and then sings “Star Witness”.
An awesome performance from SXSW. This could be my favorite song on the album. And whoever filmed this did a bang up job…..great video and sound.
Jonny Greenwood’s favorite band lately, according to some joe-shmo’s youtube comment. That’s enough endorsement for me.
