St. Vincent – The Strangers

This song has recently grown on me. I find the orchestration in this one reminiscent of The Moody Blues.
St. Vincent is the moniker of Annie Clark. She has backed up the likes of The Polyphonic Spree and Sufjan Stevens. This is the lead track from her album, Actor. It’ll be released May 5th.

Phoenix – Lisztomania (Classixx Version)

I have since proclaimed my love for the upcoming Phoenix album. A cool thing that Phoenix has been doing is making available all the tracks for specific songs, thereby encouraging remixes. I’ve heard plenty of “1901″ remixes. Now here’s a good one for “Lisztomania”:

Grizzly Bear – Cheerleader

My apologies. Not much of a video at all here. I should create a better one.

Metric – Help I’m Alive

Cut Copy – Lights and Music

Au Revoir Simone – Anywhere You Looked

Electronica indie pop trio from Brooklyn. On a sidenote, their band is named after a quote from “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure!” I’M TRYING TO USE THE PHONE!! LoL…I love that movie. So here is a little of both for everyone who likes Pee-Wee AND electronica girl groups. I know you’re out there somewhere!

Forgive my twistedness. It’s been 90 degrees and they haven’t turned on the AC in my building yet. I think it’s affecting my mental state.

Nirvana – Negative Creep, Live 1992

Live in 1992 at the Reading Festival. This song of course was originally released on their debut, “Bleach”. There is going to be an official DVD of their entire set at Reading released sometime in November. Damn I love that guitar riff. Reminds me of angsty teenage years.

Camera Obscura – Forest and Sands

Some dreamy alt-country pop, not something you typically get from Scotland. If you’re a fan of Neko or Jenny, this one is a sure thing. If you enjoy this, you can stream the whole album, entitled “My Maudlin Career” at spinner. It was just released last week.

Matt and Kim get NAKED

New video for “Lessons Learned” from their 2009 release “Grand”. Incredible album. GET IT!

This is one of the many reasons I love these two. I hope they didn’t get the book thrown at them and I hope there wasn’t too much shrinkage (to quote George Castanza).

New Order – Love Vigilantes

How could something so jangly come from the ashes of Joy Division? I suppose Ian Curtis was a total downer to be around. That’s probably mean, but I don’t care. I’ll take this over “Love Will Tear Us Apart” any day of the week.
